About Me

Scope and Sequence (by 6 weeks)

Welcome!

Hello everyone! This is my 20th year at Treetops and my 24th year of teaching. In my years at Treetops, I've taught 1st through 6th grade at some point. I am looking forward to working with students on their literacy journey.

I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1998 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and moved to Texas to teach. Before coming to Treetops, I taught in Irving ISD and Arlington ISD. I currently hold certifications in: Elementary Self-Contained (1st-8th); English Language Arts and Reading (4th-8th); English as a Second Language (ec-12); and Special Education (ec-12).  I am also in graduate school at Lamar University, where I am pursuing my Master's in Literacy Leadership: Reading Specialist.

I was born in Germany and am the youngest of 6 children. My dad retired from the Air Force when I was 2, and we moved to Oklahoma. I met my husband during my junior year of high school, and we have been married for 29 years. I have one daughter and two dogs. We all love spending time together watching TV, playing games, and traveling. My favorite authors are Kate DiCamillo, Rick Riordan, JK Rowling, and Roald Dahl. I carry Despereaux Tilling with me always.

“Stories are light. Light is precious in a world so dark.”
